If you come in for a full Wellwoman screening, your appointment will last around 90 minutes, during which time you will be with the doctor.
Specific health screening appointments take less time (about 20-30 minutes for a smear test or sexual health appointment). We always have female doctors available.
For most female health screenings we will automatically make sure that your appointment is with a woman, but if you are unsure please do confirm with a member of our team when you make your appointment.
You do not need to have any symptoms at all in order to come in for a health screening. In fact, the best time to have a screening is when you are feeling well. Some health screenings, such as smear testing & sexual health testing, can flag potentially dangerous issues that would not normally present with symptoms, & so you should always make sure you are up to date with these.
In general, it is advisable to have a full health check-up every year or so, although this may vary depending on your individual needs & the current state of your health.
Sexual health testing will depend on your personal practices, number of partners, & whether you are practicing safe sex.
If you would like to have a health screening, but are unsure of what you need, the best thing to do is come for a consultation with a GP, to discuss your lifestyle, any concerns or symptoms, & get some advice regarding the next steps.
We can investigate a full range of health symptoms, relating to any aspect of the body or physical systems, including symptoms related to endocrine health, the reproductive system, vitamin levels, chronic illness or infection, hormonal changes, digestive problems, & many more:
