The HIV Multiplex Test (also called the PCR test) is the cutting edge of early detection for HIV, providing fast and highly accurate results from just 10 days after exposure. This test is useful in that it can provide the most accurate result at an early stage (it is 98% accurate, the highest rate of accuracy for all HIV tests), which allows you to move ahead with treatment as quickly as possible.
The test can be performed earlier than other tests because of looks for the viral DNA of HIV, rather than for antibodies in the blood. The genetic material of the virus is usually detectable much sooner than the body can develop the necessary antibodies to fight it.
If you have no symptoms and are testing for peace of mind, there is no consultation fee payable.
However, if you have any symptoms, please note that a consultation fee is payable of £85 with a specialist nurse or £175 with a GP. This is to ensure that you are testing for the appropriate infections at the right time and have access to the right treatment once testing is concluded.
You should get tested if you have had unprotected sex with a new partner who you suspect may be at risk of carrying the virus, or who carries the virus, or simply if you are worried and seeking the peace of mind. You can come to us for the Multiplex HIV test as early as 10 days after potential exposure.
