Following your GP consultation at our clinic, the doctor may recommend that you have an x-ray scan in order to provide further information about your symptoms or assist in confirming a clinical diagnosis. This may be recommended in the case of a suspected fracture, as a monitoring measure for an existing diagnosis, or to get further information about a lump, swelling, or other condition that is causing pain.
X-rays provide information about infection as well as broken bones and tumours. Chest x-rays are also required for many visa medicals, as some embassies require you to rule out tuberculosis before you travel.
If you need to go for an x-ray, we can arrange this for you with one of our partner providers. These facilities are located just a short walk from our clinic’s doorstep, and we will explain the process to you and give you everything you need in order to make it as smooth and simple as possible.
If you are coming to see us for a visa medical that requires a chest x-ray, this is included in the price, and you will be able to have the x-ray straight after your appointment with the doctor here.
If you think you need an x-ray scan, we recommend that you have a consultation with a doctor so that you can discuss together the right diagnostic processes for you. Once you have agreed on a plan with the doctor, any necessary scans can be arranged by our teams at your convenience.
X-ray is a painless procedure in which radiation is passed through your body to produce a picture of your internal structures. The x-ray looks like a black and white photograph: bones and other dense areas show up on an x-ray as white, and softer matter, such as organs and soft tissue, come up darker.
